Those inspired by our 2017 conference Word and Image may be interested in an upcoming study day at MOMA Machynlleth exploring how artists engage with text. The day will feature a historical contextual introduction by Olivia Ahmad (House of Illustration), as well as talks by contemporary illustrators, publishers and artists. The study day has been arranged to coincide with the upcoming Clive Hicks-Jenkins exhibition, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, 17 March–23 June 2018, MOMA Machynlleth, Heol Penrallt, Machynlleth, Powys SY20 8AJ  01654 703355, Open Monday to Saturday, 10-4.

The exhibition focuses on a series of 14 screenprints based on the Simon Armitage translation of Gawain and the Green Knight, made with Dan Bugg of the Penfold Press. The image featured above, The Green Knight’s Head Lives (2017), is taken from this exhibition.
